Film Review: Somethings Got to Give

School was wearing me out. So, in my dire need of a feel good light hearted movie, Jo & I went to see Something's Gotta Give last Friday night. It was like killing 2 birds with one stone. I got to catch Diane Keaton in action. Her role in this flick bought her a best actress nomination in the upcoming Oscars. Other roles were played by Jack Nicholson whom I loathe not love & Keanu Reeves (extra long sigh...). The film was very entertaining. Worth the wait (Jo interpreted 23.30 as 9.30pm). Hillarious and a superb performance by almost all the actors. Yeap, as predicted Reeves had to spoil the film a little but who cares, did I mention how cute he was? His mere presence in any given film does magic. He would have made millions just by being a street mime. Haha! He played a doctor who reminded me of Friend's Joey as Dr Drake Romaray in Days of Our Lives. Keaton was what a British bloke would describe as fit i.e. hot. She played a divorced 53 year old playwright. Cant help but wonder how she'd maintained that figure at her age (whatever that is). Looking down at my very own stock of flat tyers I'm absolutely gutted. And Jack Nicholson. Well...he's Jack Nicholson. Tak hensem langsong and that baritone Jalauddin Hasan gatal voice is disgusting. He played a 60 something playboy owner of a record company whose type is strictly long-legged-under-30s. But I shouldnt discredit him for his fine acting. Natural & lawak gila the both of them. If you want to learn more about the storyline, look up the online reviews yourselves. In short, its a love triangle where an older uptight woman triumphed...at last some good news for the ladies. Its high time for the generally biased nature of love affairs to turn around, dont u think? The glitch though, is that in one scene Keaton was stark naked. That marred her reputation in my books. Just hoping that she used a body-double. All in all, a must see though a cinema is not pre-requisite.
