New Vocab

Lingue de bois (French phrase) = wooden tongue (direct translation) = Tony Blair

NB: This may be a silly thing to say but the above is supposed to be funny - it means someone who diverts or doesn't answer the questions at all, typically a smarty to save his butt. Requires skill and when its obvious it makes you want to strangle him. I say who fits this description better than Mr. 10 Downing Street.

Food

Chunky cashewnuts should never be added into risotto. They ruin the homogeneity and texture of something that could otherwise be delectable. Doesn't taste right on the tongue and disrupts the normalcy of eating i.e. scoop, mouth open, chew - No. Pick nuts, put aside (repeat to satisfaction) scoop, mouth open, chew.

More baby talk

Mom wants the newborn to call her Granny (it was Nanny before my sister corrected her..hahaha) bcos Tok, Opah, Nenek are all too common a term. Gee..Wonder why she hadn't thought of Tuanku. That's uncommon too. Ash, who was reported to be the most excited person alive, wants to be called Uncle (blah la). And aunty Nizah is of course Tok Aunty. Confusing? Tell me about it. I grew up in this crazy family. The competition to establish themselves as "significant blood relations" has begun. No wonder the poor baby kept crying her eyes out. The mob squad was scaring the heck out of her. And am I,"Maksu", the only traditionalist left in the family?

The boy who was beaten up to death.

Could everyone pls recite some dua' for his soul? Muhammad Farid Ibrahim is his name. He was in excruciating pain before he died. Skull cracked, bladder burst and imagine 5 hours of suffering prior to being admitted to the hospital. He peed blood for heaven's sake. The 8 bullies deserve severe punishment but I personally would not second death row or life imprisonment because I'm almost certain they'd repent whole-heartedly. My God! 17 years old and were still blind to that line they should have never crossed. Possessed by demons ke? All these over one stupid kettle. Not worth it. Not worth it at all. Bleak future ahead now. Also, I pray that the father wins the tort suit against the school and government. Big win plz. It's about time the authorities pay part of the price for their negligence. And why is it that no-bloody-one voiced their concerns in Malaysiakini? And the coverage in the mainstream papers - relatively puny if you ask me. Halt the politicking and stupid policies bickering for once and look at your youths, damn it!
